Inspiration

You never know where you're going to find inspiration. A beautiful sunset, a piece of music, a photo....a doughnut shop. Yes, Krispy Kreme has become the stuff of dreams and inspiration for Miles and Evan. After an outing to the roller skating rink (which looks like it hasn't been touched since 1986)

we stopped at Krispy Kreme for a treat. My kids stared at the machine that fries, flips, and frosts the doughnuts for at least a half hour. They've been talking about the mechanics of the machine, and wearing their Krispy Kreme hats ever since.

Miles told me he now has to have three jobs when he grows up - making robots, playing guitar, and working at Krispy Kreme. I guess I should just be glad he doesn't want to work at the roller skating rink, cause that place was a little bit creepy...

Yum! I am not at all suprised to find that your boys loved Krispy Kreme. It is pretty much a donut making robot.

The carpet at the roller skating rink brings back fond memories.

Oh, Classic Skating. How awesome you were in junior high...

I remember when they put that carpet in! I think I was in 5th grade... Oh how it glowed under those amazing black lights. Snowball was never the same...

I feel inspired myself to go get a little Krispy Kreme.
What a fun day - how did Evan and Miles do on the skates? Did they enjoy it? Did they play the song "Jump" or "Eye of the Tiger?" When "Eye of the Tiger" came on I know I skated about 10 times faster than usual - so KOOL!!!

Some of my alltime best roller skating moves went down at classic, so watch what you say about that place.

Kirstin, that's exactly what my boys thought of the Krispy Kreme machine!

I have heard Classic Skate is a special place. It reminds me of the skating rink I went to as a kid. It was called Warnoco West.

Linds, we had Snowball couples too, but Mark claims he's never heard of such a thing.

Kristen, I bet you had some fun times there.

Maui, I heard you and Rob and Woo have some serious skillz.

Jessica, they WERE playing old favorites like "Jump" and "Eye of the Tiger." Skating on regular skates, like Miles had, was way harder for him than I thought it would be. He switched to the plastic skates after a while because we were all pulling each other down and falling all over the place.
