All Because Two People Bought A Washing Machine

Etsy
It's obvious that I'm way behind the curve when it comes to the computer world. Blogs, social networking, shopping online; these are all things most people were doing before me. So it's no surprise that I found Etsy after everyone else in the crafting or handmade-loving world. Here, a lot of talented people make and sell every handmade or vintage item imaginable. It's like a giant garage sale or Super Saturday, except a lot of the stuff is really cool, and more overpriced. I like to browse thorough items just to look at what people can create. That inner artist in me that was never given any talent admires the talent in others. Then I started to wonder if I could make something that someone would buy on etsy. There was the phase I went through when I was doing applique and stitchery. My sister Jessica is a proud owner of one project that has two moose appliques and a canoe, with the words, "Gone Camping" in sloppy stitch work. I remember stitching some words at a Super Saturday and someone telling me my lines were so small and far apart that it looked like a digital clock....I don't think they meant for it to be a criticism, but it certainly wasn't a compliment. I don't think there would be a lot of people putting digital-clock-looking stitchery in their etsy carts. There is my robot painting. Miles asked me why I wasn't more creative when I finished it. He likes abstract interpretations more than a literal copy of the thing we're looking at and painting. I have done scrapbooking with various intervals of doing it a lot, and then not doing it for months, but I usually get impatient and try to finish a page as fast as I can. I love to take pictures (as verified by this blog), but something tells me people at etsy aren't interested in buying a picture of my kids sitting on a pumpkin. I'm into the vinyl lettering trend that is so popular. Mark laughs because he says there are so many "words" in our house. I have a vinyl lettering sign in our room that says the popular, "All Because Two People Fell In Love." I think Mark secretly likes it, but he had to laugh and suggest that we make one for the laundry room that says, "All Because Two People Bought a Washing Machine." Come to think of it, that might be my key to Etsy success....any takers?

Mark is too funny!
I would buy your gone campin' if I didn't already have it (wait a second, I don't buy anything, I just wait for people to give things to me - I guess I would hope that somebody would give it to me. Which you did. Looks like I've got life figured out.)
I'm glad you like it. I'll make you more digital clock stitchery whenever you want.
