Jump on the Train

...the train of thought, that is! And more specifically a five-year-old's train of thought.

We were talking about the fact that Evan seems destined to love drums (parents just know these things). Miles pointed out that there weren't any drum sets small enough for a two-year-old. Then what I love about how kids think is that if they have a thought they can stay with it for a very long time.

Eventually Miles was asking us "what if they made a drum set small enough for an ant?"

"And what if the base was made out of a crumb?"

"And what if the ants ate the crumb, and the entire drum set was made out of crumbs and the ants ate the whole thing?"

All of this is said through hysterical laughing.

Then there was another train of thought that started as a health discussion. I made Miles some oatmeal and I told him it was good for his heart.

"Is the heart the most important body part?" he asked.

"It's one of the most important," I said.

"I think the brain is more important because if I didn't have my brain I couldn't think, and I'd be dead," he replied.

I've heard ant bellies make great drums - or the ant's brother's head can make a great drum as well.

Evidently whatever Miles is eating - its keeping his brain's health plenty strong!
