Great Books and Christmas Recap

When I was in elementary school there was a program called Great Books. It was basically a book club for kids. From then on I have been a lover of great books, with a few dry periods when I was so busy reading text books that almost all books lost their appeal. Now I find reading to be one of the best escapes as a stay-at-home mom, and since there are no major holidays coming up I need something to look forward to. So do you have a great book suggestion? Something fun and cheery or at least not completely depressing? I like a wide variety of styles. To return the favor I will suggest a book for you: The Prize Winner of Defiance, Ohio: How My Mom Raised 10 Kids on 25 Words or Less by Terry Ryan. This book has become popular and a movie has already been made from the book, so maybe you have already read it, but if not, it is quite funny and entertaining; a good after holidays read with an inspirational mother. Okay, so what should I read?

Speaking of great: Christmas was! Here are a few pictures...

The excitement of Christmas morning

We stayed at the Homestead in Midway for a night

Miles built his first Robot kit

Evan was thrilled to play with new toys, preferably all at the same time

I'll have to think on good book recommendatons - but so far I am only thinking of depressing stuff - a good reread of To Kill A Mockingbird is always nice.
I don't think there are two kids in the world that feel Christmas joy more than yours do. It is so fun to see!

It looks like Miles and Evan loved every minute of Christmas this year. I'll ditto Jessica, those boys know how to get excited. The stay in Midway and ride on the Polar Express sounds like a lot of fun.

I think you should read "A Girl Named Zippy" by Haven Kimmel.

Jessica, I do always love a re-read of To Kill A Mockingbird, in fact it was my pick when I hosted book club. We are excited to see you in a couple weeks!!

Kirstin, I will try A Girl Named Zippy, thanks. I heard you got an amazing deal on a train table for Caleb for Christmas. Are your boys loving it?

Yep, they sure are. We moved Caleb into Seth's room and turned his room into a train/play room. It has been great.
