Thankful for: fhe

I've been reading a parenting book for my book club that suggests making a family moto. The idea is to make 3 or 4 statements that describe your family and give them expectations to live up to. I decided to do this and discuss our moto for our family home evening.

First we discussed the moto, "Our family follows the prophet." I asked the kids if they know who the prophet is. Miles said, "President Hinckley," and I said, "It's actaully President Monson now." He responded, "Oh, I thought you were asking who the old prophet was."

On to the next point, our second moto is, "Our family is responsible." I asked the kids what responsibility is. Miles is thinking really hard, tapping his forehead, and he said, "I know what it is, but I can't think of the words to explain it." So I explained responsibility and how we should do what we say we are going to do, try to be places on time, do homework and do the jobs we're asked to do. "That's what I thought it meant," Miles said.

To review, I asked Miles what our second family moto is. He said:

"Our family is responsible.....for President Monson."

FHE is awesome.

That is such a great idea. I love Miles response at the end, I can just see the wheel turning in his head.
