D.C.'n It!

A Mormon mother, a Protestant man from Uganda, and a Catholic lawyer from Malibu are on a plane together. The punchline: I got a new nickname, "Prepared Patty." The topic of conversation on my flight back from D.C. turned, as it always does these days, to the economy, and the lawyer was quite concerned about the state of the world. From there, the conversation turned to food storage, which they found to be a new and interesting topic. They wanted to know what basic supplies to store, how to store them, and what Mormon's thought of various topics including plastic surgery, HOA requirements, and coffee. The questions would be phrased, "what does a person of your faith think of..." The lawyer is the one who came up with the nickname for me, and she was quite proud of it. She said she would call me Prepared Patty, like Peppermint Patty - I'm not sure about how I feel about that.

It was an interesting flight, and I also learned a lot about Uganda, the many tribes and kings of the country, the king's search for a wife, and the man's curiosity about why visitors to his country were so interested in gorillas. We really were fast friends on the flight and the lawyer was taking any sugar packets and cookies the flight attendants offered because she said she was starting her food storage.

The trip was great. Four old college roommates+Washington D.C.+A Garmin to help us navigate Washington D.C.= FUN times! I did miss the kids like crazy. Mark and I would call each other several times a day, and I would get questions like, "Does Evan have pants?" And I would call many times and ask, "What are you doing now?"

Looks like a fun trip. We'll probably be doing a little plane travel over the next few years - maybe I can finally get my food storage built up too, sugar and cookies are what we survive on anyway.

Haa haa! :) You can also get some peanuts as long as you fly Delta. A lot of airlines don't give you anything anymore.
