I'm sure someday blogs will be a thing of the past like VCRs and slap bracelets. But let's say my boys are able to access my blog in some form someday. Wouldn't it be interesting for them to know what was going on in our lives in real time when they were young? Hmmm, maybe sort of interesting...maybe. Anyway, with that in mind, I thought I'd write an update since I've been pretty lazy and only posting pictures for a long time.
Miles is in second grade. With second grade comes spelling tests, geometry, the creation of many clubs at recess (the diamond-digging club, the spy club, the penguin club, the harry potter club, the chasing girls club). As you can see from the Halloween pictures, he likes Harry Potter. Right now he is reading book 6. He's read the other 5 in just a couple months, so he is a voracious reader. Second grade is also a time of silly, and still sweet, little boys. Most days there are 3 or 4 of these boys playing at our house after school. They love to chase Yeti, set up traps for Yeti, and generally run around screaming. Occasionally they are quiet if they're playing a video game, eating, or building Legos. Legos requires great concentration.
Evan is in his second year of preschool. He told me his preschool teacher is going to go with him to elementary school next year. Oh how I dread how sad he will be when he discovers she's not there. If I could freeze Evan in time right now, I would. Age 4 is pretty much the epitome of cuteness. I am powerless against his charms. Evan loves to play with friends, he loves movies, and he hates it when I wear a ponytail in my hair (I don't know why - has anyone else experienced this? Whenever I have a ponytail in my hair Evan tells me he doesn't like it. This has made me feel a bit self-conscious about how I look, though I suspect it is just one of his many power plays). The other night Evan called me into his room just to tell me he loved me "to the moon." Well, okay, I'll never wear a ponytail again.
I am continuing to work in Real Estate, which is sometimes awesome and sometimes so completely stressful I can't believe it. Luckily, I have running to combat the work stress. Yes, I have actually come to enjoy running. Or I should probably say jogging, because what I do is faster than walking but slower than running. I'm running (jogging) my next race on Thanksgiving Day. I figure that way I can overeat without the guilt.
And what about Mark? Imagine three magnets - Mark, Miles and Evan - as soon as Mark is home from work, he has these two little magnets stuck by his side, hoping to see the latest game on his iPhone, or some other fun. He is very adored around here.
So, there we go: Words. Okay, and one picture from a family photo session taken by a friend in my neighborhood. I LOVE the pictures she took of my kids, but, oh man, I have a hard time seeing pictures of myself. So here is one I just love of the kids.

Your boys are adorable. And Elijah doesn't like it when I wear ponytails either. He steals my elastics! I think there's just something about little boys and their daddies. Love it!
Colleen, I'm glad I'm not the only one that gets elastics stolen - how funny! I do love the connection of little boys and their daddies too. It's very sweet.
