The Best Day Ever

For the past two weeks my sister and I have been doing yard work. And I mean WORK. We filled about 10 trash bags, 2 garbage cans, and two truckloads with weeds. Then we picked up four truckloads of bark chips to spread on all of the garden beds around my house to hopefully prevent the growth of the weeds that took all that space and time. Weeds are not just plant killers. They are also time killers. And sanity killers. I am pretty much forever in debt to my sister for helping me clean up my yard. I was also in debt to my kids because while we weeded they pretty much had to fend for themselves.

Today was "no more weeding, the job is done, let's go have nothing but fun!" day for the kids. We went to the dollar store, Cabellas (where they got a pop gun - how's that for a boy's dream come true), the car wash (yes, this is fun for kids! They have an indoor play area where the kids can "shoot" the cars with soap - this is endlessly entertaining!), went to a friends house, had a "puppy playdate" for Yeti, shot silly string, played with pinwheels, ate at a place with a slide. It was, in Miles' words, "The Best Day Ever."
