Goodbye Summer

Goodbye summer. You have been so good. So warm and sunny. So full of no schedule. So very fast. Why must you leave so soon? Why do you always mark the time of my kids getting bigger? Why do none of their pants from last Fall fit?

Today was the first day of school. Despite getting "lost" in the lunchroom, Miles loved his first day of first grade. His version of getting lost actually involves the fact that he was enjoying his lunch so much that he accidentally skipped reccess. Luckily, Miles thought it was funny, and he really didn't mind being "lost" because it gave him more time to eat the Zinger I packed in his lunchbox. Evan met his preschool teacher today. There will be a couple of days when Evan is at school that I will be home alone, and as much as I have looked forward to the idea, I think I will have never felt so lonely.

I am glad that when Miles got "lost" in the lunchroom he didn't end up crying to the music teacher that he lost his "glass." Something like that could be life scarring.

Saying Goodbye Summer makes me sad. Can't believe Miles is in 1st grade and I love the lost in the lunchroom story. I hear ya on looking forward to alone time but feeling lonely at the same time. Good luck!

Kirstin- haa haa. I thought of you when Miles told me he got lost. These are the great stories that get retold! :)

Ali, thanks for the good luck wishes. It's crazy how fast time passes with kids in school. I feel like I'm going to wake up tomorrow and they'll be in college.
