Fine Art

My friend Sarah taught the most wonderful art camp this summer. I'm sure it was the most wonderful one because it had about a million 4 to 9 year old boys in it (there were girls in it too, but just think of teaching all those boys!), and she survived, and she did it with a smile, and they all had fun (and there were no major injuries besides a bee sting). Evan wasn't old enough to participate, but he enjoyed the fact that when it was my turn to take Miles to art camp we went to the playplace at Carl's Jr.

Last Friday was the art camp showcase. The showcase included singing, storytelling, jokes, art displays, acting, and dancing. The highlight for me was the puppet show. Miles and his friend Easton performed a puppet show about a dog, a robber, and a policeman. As an unabashedly biased mother I must say it was the most entertaining puppet show I've ever seen. And by entertaining, I mean "loud." The dog, who is tiny and only has a tiny bark, tricks the robber into proving how loud he can bark, thus getting him caught by the policeman. If you could have heard those loud barks, done directly into a microphone, and combined with a scream, I think you would agree that it was very.... entertaining.

Evan had to make his own "T-Rex puppet"

The finale of the showcase was a dance performance to Michael Jackson's "Thriller."

Art doesn't get any better than this.
