Competition

Sometimes Miles and Evan are competitive with each other. Sometimes out of admiration, and sometimes out of annoyance, if one has or does something, the other one wants it too. For example, Evan got a water bottle in a Subway kids meal. A water bottle - not very exciting. But to Miles, it created an intense feeling of jealousy because he didn't have one. There have been many scuffles over who gets the last cookie, who got more of something, who gets to sit where, etc... During a ride in the car, Miles started comparing what he and Evan have.

Miles: My toys are more fun than Evan's right?
Me: It's not a competition. You both have fun toys.
Miles: I'm going to be a better robot-maker when I grow up.
Evan: I'm going to dig for dinosaur bones.
Miles: Which job is better?
Me: They're both good. Your job will deal with the future and Evan's job will deal with the past.
Miles: What's better, the past or the future?

That's one of my favorite pictures of them.

That cracks me up. I love a Milesism.

I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one with children that have to one up each other. Noah loves to start that game of how much better he is, or how much cooler his toy is...
