There are few things I love more than a good art museum. When I lived in New York City one of the first places I went was the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Museum of Modern Art. A person could easily spend a week in the Met. It's huge. The MOMA had originals of the covers of my math books - you know, the one with all the geometric shapes? You can see the real thing at the MOMA and it's bigger than a human. I also spent some time at my friend's small art studio where I stood by Bjork (she just happened to be there the night we were there) and looked at some really abstract stuff that they assured me was art. I know even less about art than I do about books, but I do love it.
So this weekend we found out our very own BYU Museum of Art was having an exhibit by Walter Wick, the co-creator of the I SPY books, and I was just as excited to go as the kids were. One of Wick's recent books features robots so Miles loved it. Evan has an interesting fascination with anything Halloween related so he loved the photos from a book called "A Very Scary Night." We also wandered through some visiting exhibits that would have made the MOMA proud. One piece was made entirely of balloons, another looked like it was made out of trash, and a third had a continuously running sink displayed in front of an enormous twisted sculpture of white pipes. I must remember to go to the BYU Museum of Art more often.

Take me with you next year!
It looks like another good BYU brainwashing activity.
And I love seeing brothers hold hands - very sweet.
I miss the MOA, but not working at the MOA!
k, I thought of you when we were there because they had a performance by one of the modern dance companies. And then I thought of our "water" dance for our modern class. :)
Jessica, I'm excited to be able to do things with you and the kiddies next year.
Gretchen- When did you live in New York City? I never pegged you for the artsy-city-girl type but I think that is very cool. I'm like you, I love art but I don't really understand a lot of it. I think it is fabulous how you are always taking your boys out to see and try new things. You are a very cool mom.
I did an internship at a magazine in NYC during my senior year at BYU. I was only there for a few months, but I loved it.
