Miles made a medal at school last week that he enjoyed wearing. It was a paper medal on a piece of string that said "Peace Award." Ironically, it was destroyed when he was wrestling with his cousin. He was pretty upset that it was ripped so I told him we could make a new medal. Since we were headed to the dinosaur show we decided to make a dinosaur medal. I made a copy of a dinosaur picture from a book and Miles wanted it to be scary, so this is what he came up with:

Extraordinary Weekend
Extraordinary is quite a word. It sounds like it should mean more ordinary, but it means beyond ordinary; outside of the ordinary - like seeing a living dinosaur. Okay, the dinosaurs we saw weren't alive, but Evan certainly thought they were, and he almost ate his own hand in anxiety and amazement. Walking With Dinosaurs came through town and the kids got tickets for Christmas so we took them on Saturday. Evan couldn't believe he was seeing a show completely dedicated to one of his obsessions. Miles was intrigued by the fact that the dinosaurs were giant robots. I didn't get any great pictures for two reasons: 1.) The announcer asked the audience not to take pictures 2.) Miles is an absolute stickler for following rules. I did sneak my camera out for one picture at the end of the show of the T-Rex mom with her baby. In a somewhat profound moment in the show the paleontologist, who is hosting the journey through the dinosaur ages, talks about the success and domination of dinosaurs for millions of years. He attributes the success, in part, to mothers (of many species, but not all) that watched out for their young. And so it continues today that human mothers, just like dinosaurs, want the best for their young...and maybe even an extraordinary weekend now and then.

I am jealous. I have heard that is an amazing show.
That medal is very cool and very scary. I will be sure to stear clear of dinosaurs now.
It's too bad the show didn't go to Denver. I'm sure your boys would love it.
that sounds and looked like a lot of fun. i can imagine the excitement the boys were feeling.
