Thankful for: voting!

Exercising my American right to vote is good, and it made me feel happy. Especially because there was NO LINE! Woo hoo!

On the way home from school Miles told me he thought, "Barnack Omama" was going to win the presidential election today. Apparently this election is so big that even five-year-olds are discussing politics on the playground.

(Speaking of exercising, I've been trying to get into running and a dog chased me all the way home! How am I supposed to keep motivated when this dog is after me??)

The photo combines two thankfuls: a cardigan and voting!

I want to know more about your running.
When I was in NY I used to run down a country road (which was just about every road) where there was a farm house that never kept its dog in a fence. It would always chase me across the street in ferocious bark mode. So one day I yelled at the house. "Would you PLEASE come get your dog!" The house listened. If I went running at my usual time, the dog was always tied up.

That's funny! I was hoping you'd have some advice for my dog chaser. I am starting to get an idea of the houses where dogs tend to run free and I'm trying to avoid them. I'm sure it looks funny to people who see me weaving back and forth across the streets. My running is still pretty pathetic right now, but I'm hoping if I go every day I'll be able to build up.

That just makes me giggle, picturing you a bit like a cartoon character trying to escape. You're way better than me, though, at least your running! How do you do that when it's so cold!? PS I think I saw you on tv 2 days ago?? Way to be involved. I'm glad you don't just give up and go along with things. (like I would) People like you make a difference. You're such a good example.

Aww, thanks Jacque! You are so nice. I do feel like a cartoon character zooming back and forth. As for the cold, once I start running I feel really warm - except for my freezing cold fingers. Tomorrow I will wear gloves. Hopefully the running will continue for longer than my other excerise stints which have been embarassingly short.

It is so exciting to me that you are running - maybe we could do a
5K together this summer (:

It would be fun to do a 5k together but I'd have to do some real training to get ready, and still you'd probably be done with the race when I was at a half-mile. :)
