You Get Warm Fuzzies When You Help People, so Shriners Hospital Must Be a Hot Fuzzy Place

My beautiful niece, H, is 7 months old. She is the happiest baby you've ever seen. She is sitting up, and she loves to smile at everyone. H was born with one leg substantially shorter than the other. Becuase of this, she will be treated either with lengthening surgeries or a prosthetic. This girl will do awesome. She is strong. She will also do well because Shriners Hospital for Children in Salt Lake City is helping her. FREE OF CHARGE. As stated on their website, "Shriners Hospitals for Children is a one-of-a-kind health care system providing pediatric specialty care to thousands of kids each year -- at no charge to their families -- thanks to the generosity of donors, past and present."

Very few mom's say they are not busy enough, but if you have time, money, or a group of people that need a service project, this is the cause for you. Monetary donations can be made online. There are also many ideas for non-monetary ways to help, including donating frequent flyer miles (they often fly in families that don't live near a hospital). They also take donations of clothes, toys, and hair for wigs. You could even put a link on your blog for other people to donate. This could be a great Thanksgiving/Chirstmas charity! Yes, I do start thinking about Christmas in October. :)

Thanks for the plug for Shriners. It is an amazing hospital full of helpful, caring healthcare workers. I was most impressed with how they made the doctor's appointment something for the whole family to attend. I noticed that every patient that came in, no matter what age, came with both parents and their siblings.
